"A blackberry alley..."

"Nobody in the lane, and nothing, nothing but blackberries,
Blackberries on either side, though on the right mainly,
A blackberry alley, going down in hooks, and a sea
Somewhere at the end of it, heaving..." - Blackberrying by Sylvia Plath

Seeing as it's my last week at home, and in Suffolk, before I head back to university and the city, I was desperate to go on one last country walk. Taking advantage of a brief respite from the rain, we chased the setting sun to our favourite blackberrying spot. After much twirling in my new favourite dress (a gorgeous vintage velvet pinafore dress from Beyond Retro) for this photo shoot, we harvested our first bounty of blackberries. By the end of the day our fingers and lips were stained purple and our cheeks rosy from the early-evening chill.

I visited Beyond Retro for the first time recently and I am seriously questioning why I've never visited before. It's a treasure trove in there! My sister and I intended to spend the afternoon wandering around the surrounding shops but instead found ourselves still looking by closing time! Along with this adorable dress I also brought a black mini skirt, but I spotted way more treasures than I could afford. I'll definitely be visiting again for a whole day of rummaging!

How cute are these lace brogues? I fell in love with them at first sight and I couldn't wait to wear them. There was no better way to show them off, I thought, than with an equally girly and playful outfit; complete with a skirt that makes me want to twirl around constantly!

It really is getting chilly here now, and this is probably the last bare-legged look you'll see from me (unless we have a freak heat wave of course!) As I was posing for these pictures, there were signs of autumnal chill taking hold; the last flowers of summer, the first frost, and the sun going down earlier. As much as I love autumn, the change in the seasons has brought rain and gloomy skies, and made taking outfit photos harder. The changing weather has inspired a (way too long) wish list of cold weather clothes. Autumnal fashion is always my favourite - the rich colours, the layers, the interesting textures... But, to save my bank account, my wish lists will most probably stay as that: wishes.
